Chateau St Thomas, Les Emirs, 2007  |  Value for money:
Bought at Beirut airport last year, looking for something different to the usual suspects, but still wanted a wine with some full flavour - this wine did not disappoint! Fantastic nose and a full on flavour of sweet, dark red fruits and almost creamy vanilla that is well balanced with the oak. It packs a punch, but is silky smooth and has a decent finish. Great value, looking forward to buying more on my next visit.. Rate: 80 [+]

This is an entry level wine but it is still holding up nearly five years on. The nose is all Cab but in the mouth the sweet silky Syrah is the grape that rules the roost. As I said, it's getting on a bit but I loved that slightly evolved style. Brilliant. Am told the Marquis de Beys is worth a try. let's see. Happy New Year Mike!. Rate: 90 [+]
